I’ve always been a Star Wars fan. For the last month or so, one of my local cable stations has been playing every episode so often that I sometimes want to use The Force to strangle the people in charge of programming.
Anyway, being the dedicated internet/information junkie that I am, I decided to Google Star Wars and came up with an interesting article from WebMd.com. The title is Darth Vader’s Psyche: What Went Wrong?
Basing their research on the Star Wars’ scripts, the psychiatric department at France’s University Hospital of Toulouse concluded that “Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader could ‘clearly’ be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.” The psychiatrists cited his “pattern of unstable and intense personal relationships, including his relationships with his Jedi masters” and abandonment issues stemming from Anakin Skywalker’s fear of his wife’s death among other symptoms. It’s a short, interesting article. Give it a read.
